How we write
Every page here exists to help one person have a better conversation tonight. Here is how the articles and question lists get made, and what we will never do in them.
Who signs the articles
The articles are signed by Lolo, Mimi and Toto - the penguins from the app. They are characters, not people. A byline tells you whose voice and topic it is: Lolo writes about family and deep talks, Mimi about couples, Toto about friends and game nights. It is not a claim that a penguin dated anyone, has a grandma or holds a degree. The publisher of every page is Lolo Cards. More about us is on About.
How an article is made
Articles are written with the help of AI and published automatically once they pass our checks. Every question in a list is matched word for word against the app's deck. Every study or number links to its source. The text has to follow the rules on this page, and a second, independent AI model reviews it before it goes live. Nobody reads every article before it is published, so if something slipped through, tell us and we'll fix it.
Where the questions come from
Every question on this site comes word for word from our deck of 4,700 cards - the same cards you'll find in the app. We don't write extra questions for a page that the app doesn't have.
Sources
When an article says a study found something, it links to that study. An article built on Arthur Aron's 36 questions, for example, cites the original 1997 paper. If we can't point to a real source, we don't write "research shows".
What we never do
- Fake experts, invented stories passed off as real, invented reviews or testimonials.
- "Test your partner" quizzes, snooping, jealousy games or tactics to make someone feel a certain way.
- Labels for real people, like calling someone's partner "toxic".
- Anything above the app's 13+ rating: no "spicy" lists, no drinking games.
- Promises bigger than a deck of cards can keep. Questions help you talk. They don't fix a relationship.
If a topic touches abuse, cheating or a mental health crisis, we point to real help and stop there.
